Closing of The Bones Ceremony

— a physical, emotional, and spiritual closure of a woman’s body.

A woman’s body, heart, and spirit move through countless seasons of change throughout her lifetime.

We expand, soften, shift, carry, nurture, grieve, and transform through the many experiences that shape who we are.

Some journeys include pregnancy and birth, others include infertility, loss. And all of these journeys deserve to be acknowledged and honoured.

——

Beyond the physical, there is SO much of a woman’s story that lives within her — the experiences she has carried, the emotions she has held, and the versions of herself she has grown through.

The Closing of the Bones ceremony is an invitation to honour all of it. To soften, receive, and gently return home to yourself.

——

A woman’s pelvis, muscles, and tissues soften, shift, and expand to make room for new life. But beyond the physical changes, motherhood (+ being a woman) brings an expansion of the heart, mind, and spirit, too.

The Closing of the Bones ceremony is a beautiful, ancient healing ritual practiced across many cultures around the world. Through gentle wrapping, holding, rocking, and intentional touch, the ceremony symbolically honours and supports a woman’s return to herself.

It is an opportunity to gently close what may have been left feeling open, unfinished, or unacknowledged — physically, emotionally, and spiritually.

A space to be held, honoured, nurtured, and deeply acknowledged for all that your body and soul have carried.

  • Emotional release: Offering an opportunity to explore emotions, grief, and experiences that may still feel present within you.

  • Reconnection: Inviting you to reconnect with your body, your femininity, and the woman you are beyond motherhood.

  • Rest + Nourishment: Allowing yourself to receive, soften, and be cared for after spending so much time caring for others.

Who is this ceremony for?

This sacred ceremony is deeply nourishing for any woman, at any stage of life + extra nourishing after the birth of a baby, pregnancy or, infant loss, a hysterectomy, or throughout the journey of infertility.

But it isn’t just for new mothers.

You can receive a Closing of the Bones ceremony at any stage of life — whether it’s been 6 weeks ago or 60+ years ago.

There is no timeline on honouring your journey, acknowledging your experiences, or finding a sense of closure.

Little Fact:

Our hips and pelvis are deeply connected to our experiences of movement, protection, and emotion. Therefore, the hips + pelvis are a special place where we may experience and carry emotional tension.

Through intentional touch, gentle rocking, and the supportive embrace of the rebozo cloths, Closing of the Bones offers an invitation to soften, release tension, and reconnect with yourself.

A gentle reminder that you, too, deserve to be held.

This may be done in a one-to-one session, or you are more than welcome to bring along loved ones!♥
