What is Somatic Yoga Therapy?

Somatic Yoga Therapy.

A coming home.

A remembering.

Deeply nourishing for the nervous system and mind.

Regulates the nervous system through sensory modulation.

A gentle trauma-informed approach tailored to the individual.

Works deeply with the nervous system to address and process emotional imprints, trauma and chronic pain, all while restoring the nervous system.

Gently guides the body from survival mode (fight or flight) to a balanced state of calm.

Guides you to recognize where you are restricted physically, emotionally, and mentally, so that you have the ability to rewrite your story.

Directly challenges the myofascial (connective tissue) patterning that our bodies hold. — Thus, by moving energy through the meridians that lie in the fascia we are essentially clearing out stagnant emotions, energies and blockages.

Fun Fact:

The body doesn’t keep score.

It keeps the story.

——

Things don’t get stuck in the body; they take shape.

Your body is constantly protecting you, therefore all of your experiences in life have quite literally shaped you.

Example: The tension in your jaw from years of swallowing words and not speaking your truth.

What does a session look like?

Together we will invite a remembering of your own body wisdom; your inner knowing. It is your dance, I am simply a friend who lends you strength for a moment, until you can remember your own.

Always keeping in mind that each session is beautifully tailored to the individual. Each session can look very different than the one before, this is because in Somatic Yoga Therapy, we always meet the individual exactly where they are at in that moment. Gently ebbing and flowing in whichever way their body guides us.

A Somatic Yoga Therapy session blends your own inner wisdom, mindful movement, breath work and gentle somatic awareness. This offers a soft and supportive place to land, which then gives you the opportunity to truly connect with your body and emotions.

By attuning to your body’s sensations and exploring gentle movements, this allows your body to remember, release, and re-pattern.

Each and every sensation and emotion that comes to your attention during our session is held with the utmost care and respect.

Please note:

Throughout the session, it is always encouraged to press pause, take a few steps back, or move in an entirely different direction if you feel called to do so. Processing emotions, trauma and chronic pain is always done softly and gently.
